Trade Training Centres in Schools Program - Round 3
The Australian Government brought forward $110 million of funding into Round 3 for the Trade Training Centres in Schools Program, from 2010-11 to 2009-10. This provided additional support for the economy and also fast-tracked measures to improve the skills base of the workforce.
Funding for this program enabled components of works to be brought forward for immediate commencement. Many of the projects are significant long-term infrastructure investments and will be completed over the coming years.

Education Investment Fund - Round 1
Funding of $580 million was allocated to Round 1 of the Education Investment Fund. This supported infrastructure investments in tertiary education and research.
Funding for this program enabled components of works to be brought forward for immediate commencement. Many of the projects are significant long-term infrastructure investments and will be completed over the coming years.

The Teaching and Learning Capital Fund for Higher Education
Funding of $500 million was allocated to the Teaching and Learning Capital Fund for Higher Education. This funding was distributed to eligible higher education institutions throughout Australia to target new infrastructure as well as the upgrading of existing facilities.
Funding for this program enabled components of works to be brought forward for immediate commencement. Many of the projects are significant long-term infrastructure investments and will be completed over the coming years.

Teaching and Learning Capital Fund, Vocational Education and Training
Funding of $500 million was allocated to the Teaching and Learning Capital Fund, Vocational Education and Training, for the development of infrastructure to modernise and improve the quality of teaching and learning across the vocational education and training sector.

Funding for this initiative is being provided through the following three program elements:
Better TAFE Facilities
Funding of $200 million was allocated to TAFE institutes across Australia, to help them to address immediate maintenance needs, small capital works and equipment and plant purchases. Grants of between $2 million and $8 million were awarded to TAFE institutes for eligible projects.

Training Infrastructure Investment for Tomorrow
Funding of $200 million was made available for eligible applicants, and consortia led by eligible applicants, to apply for competitive grants of between $2 million to $10 million for infrastructure projects to adjust to the emerging training needs of the local economies in which they operate; and support the national training system to address industry’s emerging green skills requirements.

Investing in Community Education and Training
Funding of $100 million was made available to community education and training providers, who were able to apply for small capital grants of between $50,000 and $250,000 to assist with maintenance or the purchase of equipment, and for larger grants of between $250,000 and $1.5 million for major capital infrastructure developments or upgrades.
