The Australian Government is assisting Australian Defence
Force families by providing an additional $245.58 million to
Defence Housing Australia for the construction of an extra 829
residential houses, to be built across Australia.

Progress:
All 829 contracts have been committed, three months ahead of
schedule. This completes the contracting phase of the program.
Construction work is underway on 282 new Defence houses.
Houses are now being built in Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin,
Sydney, Ipswich and Melbourne.
There are now 547 houses completed – 118 in Townsville, 121
in Darwin, 68 in Brisbane, 54 in Ipswich, 35 in Melbourne, 13 in
Sale, 6 in Wodonga, 6 in Regional Victoria, 30 in Hunter, 45 in
Adelaide, 8 in Toowoomba, 16 in Nowra, 5 in Cairns, 10 in
Hobart, 2 in Wagga and 10 in Canberra.
