Refurbishment finished at Grafton Community College
The Grafton Community College located in northern New South Wales
is undergoing a significant facelift with major refurbishment of the
community college’s administration building and training class
rooms.
The $540,000 Grafton Plant Operations Training Centre Project is
jointly funded through Grafton Community College and the Investing
in Community Education and Training component of the Nation
Building-Economic Stimulus Plan.
Work has just been completed and included spending $65,000
replacing the very old and often leaking galvanized roof and over
$30,000 demolition and rebuilding an old toilet block including the
removing of an asbestos hazard.
The Grafton Community College has been providing successful
community education for over 20 years and the buildings now being
refurbished dates back to 1920s.
The College has an annual turnover of approximately $800,000 with
capacity to accept up to 6,000 student/client enrolments each year,
which is double the old capacity before the refurbishment work.
These students and clients use a variety of programs including
Grafton Community College’s:
- One-On-One Tutoring program
- Business Express program
- Typing Skills program
- Leisure and lifestyle courses
- College subsidised course in Adult Literacy
- Specialised licensing courses in:
- Earth moving
- plant and equipment
- Forklift operations
- Higher education offerings that extend from Certificate II to
Certificate IV level.
The project has provided a much needed boost to both students and
teachers alike.
