Community Infrastructure making a splash in Mildura

Residents in and around Mildura have marked the completion of
nine community infrastructure projects, with the official opening of
the redeveloped Merbein Swimming Pool.
Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and
Local Government, the Hon Anthony Albanese was on hand to open the
redeveloped facility on 18 February. The redeveloped pool features a
new 25 metre, eight lane pool and disabled access.
In total nine infrastructure projects are now complete in and
around Mildura worth over $3.4 million, with $1.5million funding
provided under the Regional and Community infrastructure element of
the Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan and the remaining $1.94
million provided by Mildura Rural City Council.
The other completed projects include the construction of two
netball courts on Eleventh Street in Mildura, the relocation of the
Red Cliffs Toy Library to the Maternal Child Health Centre and
significant upgrades to Ouyen Youth Park, Millewa Pre-school and
public amenities in Merbein.
The funding also contributed to extensive garden and landscape
development along Mildura’s river front and on Deakin Avenue in
Mildura; and the installation of an environmentally friendly
pollutant trap in the Mildura South Wetlands.
