New multipurpose auditorium opens in Cardinia, Victoria
Thursday, 4 March 2010
The Cardinia community in South East Melbourne has celebrated the
opening of their new Bunyip Sports Multipurpose Auditorium as well
as the completion of four additional local community infrastructure
projects.
The new auditorium and four new projects were funded with $1.1
million provided under the Regional and Local Community
Infrastructure Program, a key component of the Government’s Nation
Building-Economic Stimulus Plan.
The new multipurpose auditorium includes seating for 250 people,
basketball and netball courts, a portable stage and kitchen. The new
facility has been fully landscaped and allows for disabled access.
It is expected the auditorium will attract high level sporting
events and in the longer-term increase tourism and create economic
and health benefits for users and the broader Cardinia community.
The four other completed projects include the Beaconsfield
Recreation Reserve Upgrade, the Gembrook Community Centre, the Koo
Wee Rup Streetscape project and the Koo Wee Rup Trail and Park
upgrade.
