Shade structures being constructed
Large all weather cover complete
Star of the Sea School in South Australia has commenced works
under the Building the Education Revolution component of the Nation
Building – Economic Stimulus Plan.
The refurbishment of outdoor facilities under the National School
Pride program is well underway, and Primary Schools for the 21st
Century (P21) works, including new library and resource facility,
are planned.
Principal of the School, Mr Michael Honey, said “A large all
weather cover has been completed and we are also receiving some
additional shade structures, as well as playgrounds and fitness
tracks which will really transform the school,”
“In addition, over the last ten years or so, the school has been
trying to save for a new library, as a result we have been able to
combine the money we have saved with the P21 money to build a new
library and ICT classroom on to an existing building within the
school,” said Mr Honey.
An existing three story building will be extended to include a
new library and ICT classroom. This will allow the transportable
classrooms that are currently situated on the oval to be removed
entirely from the school grounds.
“Not only do we gain these new state of the art modern
facilities, but we will have more space on the oval, which means we
won’t have to do less split lunches throughout the day for the
senior and junior students and we also have more room for playground
activities,” said Mr Honey.
