Safety upgrade in Gippsland complete
Thursday, 6 May 2010
Safety work at the intersection of the Princes Highway and Post
Office Place at Traralgon is now complete.
The $450,000 Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan project
constructed a left turn lane and larger left turn island on the
southern approach and installed safer power poles and improved
pedestrian access. The improvements will make the intersection safer
for the more than 26,000 motorists that use it daily.
The project was recommended by a panel of independent road safety
experts following seven reported crashes at the intersection between
2003 and 2009, more than half of which were drivers turning right
out of Post Office Place hitting cars travelling along the Highway.
Under the Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan, state and
territory road authorities were provided with an extra $150 million
to fix 607 dangerous black spots.View all
