California Gully Primary School, Victoria, proud of campus improvements
Wednesday, 9 September 2009
California Gully Primary School in Victoria has applied its
National School Pride funding across almost the entire 125-year-old
campus – painting classrooms, replacing carpets, refurbishing the
kitchen, fencing the oval and upgrading electrical wiring.
The School received $125,000 in funding under the National School
Pride program of the Building the Education Revolution (BER).
School Principal Mr Glenn Madden calls the funding a “godsend”
and is pleased with the effect the works are having on his school
community.
“The whole school has had a morale boost with the renovations,”
Mr Madden says.
“The students and teachers now have more comfortable and
attractive classrooms, as well as access to the best teaching and
learning pedagogy.”
“The School Council, Parents Club, play group, students and staff
are all very pleased with the funding,” Mr Madden said. “The school
community is very proud of the school and the improvements have
added to this feeling.”
The School also received $2 million under the Primary Schools for
the 21st Century component of BER, to construct a new library.
