The modernisation of the nation's rail network has reached
another major milestone, with work on the upgrade of a key section
of the main line between Sydney and Melbourne now complete.
The $45 million upgrade of the line between Seymour and Wodonga
in Victoria involved replacing all the existing timber sleepers with
225,000 new concrete sleepers.
The multi-million dollar project directly employed 120 people,
took four months to complete and used sleepers produced by Austrak's
Wagga Wagga factory.
