Maintenance work supports tenants and local jobs in Southern NSW

Over $1.4 million is being invested to upgrade 398 social housing
homes in the areas of Bega, Eden and Monaro in NSW.
The Minister for Housing, the Hon Tanya Plibersek, recently
visited the region, where the investment will provide upgrades to
184 homes in Bega, and 214 in Monaro.
It is estimated that this investment will help 50 social housing
residents over a two year period, and contribute to improving the
living conditions of social housing residents across the state by
providing more affordable housing to people who need it the most.
The work will also assist maintenance contractors take on an
estimated 250 apprentices.
Housing is an important component of the Nation Building –
Economic Stimulus Plan with a $6.4 billion investment to build
20,000 new social housing dwellings, and repairs and maintenance to
around 47,000 existing social housing dwellings across Australia.
