Progress continues on Defence homes in Townsville

Work is well underway on Defence homes in Townsville funded by
the Nation Building – Economic Stimulus Plan.
By June 2011, 118 new houses will be built in Townsville at a
cost of $31.78 million, supporting local jobs and providing new
housing for Australian Defence Force members and their families.
The Minister for Defence, the Hon. Joel Fitzgibbon, recently
visited the construction site to meet with local builders and staff
from Defence Housing Australia.
A total of 802 new Defence homes will be built across Australia
under the Economic Stimulus Plan.
In addition to the 118 homes in Townsville, new housing will be
located to support Defence operational centres in Adelaide,
Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Victoria, Hobart, Cairns, Hunter Valley,
Ipswich, Sydney, Wagga Wagga, Wodonga, Nowra and Toowoomba.
