Safety upgrade in Nambucca now complete

Friday, 13 November 2009

Work is now complete on a safety upgrade to a high risk black spot in Nambucca.

A new pedestrian island has been constructed in Bowra Street in Nambucca Heads at a cost of $34,000.

This project was recommended by a panel of independent road safety experts.

The Black Spot Program has a proven track record of saving lives with an evaluation showing that it prevented at least 32 fatalities and more than 1,500 serious injuries in its first three years.

The Nation Building – Economic Stimulus Plan has provided State and Territory road authorities with an extra $150 million to fix 607 dangerous black spots around Australia.
