Work begins on new Eddison Park Youth Recreation Facility, ACT

Construction work has commenced on a new youth Recreation Facility in Woden Valley, ACT, as part of the Community Infrastructure component of the Nation Building – Economic Stimulus Plan.

The Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon Anthony Albanese, and ACT Chief Minister Jon Stanhope recently inspected the project at Eddison Park.

Funding of $1.4 million has been provided under the Economic Stimulus Plan for the recreation facility, with the remaining $400,000 funded by the ACT Government.

The recreation facility concept was developed in consultation with the local community, and will provide a dedicated place in Woden Valley for young people and their families.

The new recreation facility will feature a skate park and events stage, as well as new play equipment and a half basketball court.

The project is expected to be completed later this year.
