Facilities opened at Victoria’s Westbourne Grammar School

The Hon Julia Gillard MP, today attended the official opening of
a multipurpose hall and outdoor learning/performance area at
Westbourne Grammar School in Truganina, Victoria, built as part of
the Australian Government’s Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan.
Under the Building the Education Revolution (BER) program,
Westbourne Grammar received $3 million Primary Schools for the 21st
Century (P21) funding to renovate and fully refurbish their existing
school hall and $200 000 National School Pride (NSP) funding to
construct the outdoor learning/performance centre.
The Deputy Prime Minister was joined by Member for Williamstown,
Wade Noonan MP in congratulating Westbourne Grammar School and
inspecting the new facilities.
‘Local principals, parents and tradespeople have worked together
to deliver these important projects. This is a fantastic outcome and
I would like to recognise the work undertaken by the school and the
community in making this happen,’ said the Deputy Prime Minister.
The Westbourne Grammar School’s renovated school hall will
provide additional facilities to the school and wider community
including:
- an area which can seat 200 students for assemblies, small
concerts and dramatic performances as well as physical education
classes in inclement weather
- a home for the school’s ‘before and after-school’ program
- a large general learning area where up to three classes can be
gathered at one time
- a junior science laboratory for up to 30 students at a time and
- a venue for the wider community.
