Thursday, 15 April 2010
The emergence of modern state-of-the-art education facilities in
Esperance as part of the Building Education Revolution (BER)
component of the Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan has students
excited about going to school.
Principal of Ravensthorpe District High School, Mr Bruce McNally
said the foundations, walls and roof have been installed for the
school’s $1.1 million art, craft and music multipurpose block, which
will include landscaping and walkways.
“We have replaced two demountable classrooms, there is a fully
refurbished pre-primary block, and shade structures have also been
installed over play equipment,” Mr McNally said.
“This is the best opportunity I have seen in 30 years to improve and
add value to schools, and Ravensthorpe students are eagerly awaiting
the completion of the new block where they will take their music
lessons”.
“Every part of the construction was well-executed, the architects
and builders were extremely organised and professional,” Mr McNally
said.
The school received $75,000 in funding under the National School
Pride (NSP) element for refurbishment and new shade structure and
$1.1 million in funding under the Primary Schools for the 21st
Century (P21) element for the multipurpose block.
