Deputy Prime Minister announces $6.3 billion in school funding

Round Two of the Primary Schools for the 21st Century (P21) has now been announced with 3,716 Australian schools primary schools (including special schools and the primary component of K-12 schools) to receive $6.3 billion in funding.

The Minister for Education, the Hon Julia Gillard, recently visited Eastwood Public School in Sydney where she announced funding of $3 million for the construction of new classroom facilities under P21.

Round Two will fund 4,973 projects in eligible schools across Australia. The variety of projects include libraries, multipurpose halls or, in the case of smaller schools, covered outdoor learning areas.

Combined, Round One and Two of P21 will deliver $9.1 billion to 5,215 eligible primary schools in every State and Territory for 6,983 projects to help stimulate jobs in every local community. There is one round of funding remaining.
