Upgrades boost outdoor activities for students at Junee Public School
Wednesday, 17 March 2010
Lunchtimes and outdoor classes for the students of Junee Public
School will be greatly improved, following the completion of new
shade structures over the playground.
The school received $125,000 under the Building the Education
Revolution National School Pride component of the Nation
Building-Economic Stimulus Plan for roof and wall repairs, floor
coverings and painting, playground resurfacing and the construction
of two shade structures over the existing play equipment and sand
pit.
“The school is so grateful for the funding as we would never have
been able to raise the funds needed to undertake this type of
project. The structures look great from the road and have given the
school a real boost to keep improving,” Principal of Junee Public
School, Bobbie Macauley said.
Junee Public School, which has 152 enrolments, serves the community
of Junee (located near Wagga Wagga) and outlying rural areas. The
project has maintained this tradition, by using local contractors,
Kayle Konstructions and RW & JA Kerry for the construction.
“The opportunity to complete these projects has allowed our company
to maximise our existing apprentices’ experience and we are
currently in the process of employing another first year
apprentice,” a representative at Kayle Konstructions said.
