Friday, 18 June 2010
Corowa South Public School overlooking the Murray River and on the
New South Wales and Victorian border has a new permanent library.
Replacing a demountable library, the new building features a wet
area, library assistant workroom, storage room, carpeted walls and
air-conditioning. Funding of $850,000 was provided for the library
under Primary Schools for the 21st Century element for the Nation
Building-Economic Stimulus Plan. The library was designed by
construction company Laing O'Rourke and built by Albury-based Barker
Constructions.
Principal Graham Hyde was pleased the school had a permanent new
library. "The students all agree the new library is fantastic and
makes our school stand out," Mr Hyde said. "Students look forward to
their library lessons each week because it is a comfortable,
refreshing place to sit back, relax and read."
The new library was officially opened during a ceremony on Tuesday
25 May 2010.
