Banora Point Upgrade moves ahead

The $310 million Banora Point Upgrade, Pacific Highway NSW, is moving ahead with work set to commence on the detailed design of the upgrade, as well as environmental management plans and community consultation.

The alliance team has been named for the Pacific Highway upgrade and consists of Abigroup Contractors, Seymour Whyte Constructions and engineering firm Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation.

Construction is expected to get underway later this year and is scheduled for completion in 2012. It is also expected to support up to 290 direct jobs in the local economy.

Once completed, this section of road will be a six-lane dual carriageway from Barneys Point Bridge to the Tweed Heads Bypass, while the existing Pacific Highway will be maintained as a local access road. This will improve road safety and result in shorter travel times for motorists.
