Installation of more boom gates in NSW

Monday, 21 September 2009

Over the next fortnight work will start on the installation of boom gates and other safety measures at two priority level rail crossings in NSW, under the Nation Building – Economic Stimulus Plan.

Lights and boom gates will be installed by the Australian Rail Track Corporation at Kenilworth Street, and Public Road, Denman, Upper Hunter Valley.

Funding of $42.7 million has been allocated to upgrade safety around 55 high risk level crossings across the State, under the Boom Gates for Rail Crossings program. Already boom gates and other safety measures have been installed at eight level crossings in NSW.

The $150 million Boom Gates for Rail Crossings Program will see boom gates and other safety measures installed at 292 high risk level crossings around the country.
