Contract signed for 650th Defence house

Defence Housing Australia (DHA) has reached another major milestone in the Nation Building - Economic Stimulus Plan, with the signing of the contract for the 650th house in the program.

DHA Chief Operating Officer, Peter Howman, signed the contract at Head Office on Friday 18 September 2009. Under the agreement, 23 new houses will be constructed in the suburb of Evanston Gardens in Adelaide.

The contract, awarded to builder AV Jennings, will see $4.6 million injected into the local construction industry as well as providing numerous employment opportunities.

Construction on the houses is scheduled to begin in four to six weeks time.
