Welcome upgrades to popular Boronia Park, Sydney
Thursday, 24 September 2009
Visitors to Boronia Park in Sydney’s Hunters Hill are enjoying
two new gazebo areas thanks to funding under the Regional and Local
Community Infrastructure Program of the Nation Building – Economic
Stimulus Plan.
Hunters Hill Council partnered with the local Rotary Club,
employing their skills to build the new gazebo areas – one complete
with a new barbeque, the other with seating – which were both
completed last month. The contribution of the Hunters Hill Rotary
Club allowed the Council to build an additional gazebo, where they
had only planned for one.
Hunters Hill Council General Manager, Mr Barry Smith, said the
community has welcomed the new facilities in Boronia Park – a
popular sporting field, training and recreational area – explaining
they have been heavily used so far, particularly on game days.
The construction of the new gazebos has also coincided with other
general Council upgrades to Boronia Park, including painting of the
grandstand and players area.
