Technology upgrades makes learning easier for students at Thomas Pattison
School, NSW
Thursday, 25 March 2010
Recently opened technology upgrades will benefit the learning
capabilities of students at the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind
Children (RIDBC) Thomas Pattison School.
The specialty school, located in North Rocks NSW, received $300,000
under the National School Pride and Primary Schools for the 21st
Century elements of the Building the Education Revolution (BER). BER
is a key initiative of the Australian Government’s Nation Building –
Economic Stimulus Plan (NB-ESP).
The funding has been used to upgrade facilities to bring visual
information to the students at the Thomas Pattison School, and to
relay information using videoconferencing technology. The
refurbishment includes a new technology room library extension and a
covered outdoor learning area.
Prior to this upgrade, students at the Thomas Pattison School
travelled to the Hills Grammar School to share lessons and gain
access to the broad school curriculum. Now, Thomas Pattison School
students can access lesson content via videoconference from Hills
Grammar School, which remains a supportive and effective partner.
The RIDBC Thomas Pattison School provides a range of early
childhood, preschool and school programs for children with a
significant loss of vision and/or hearing.
