The foundation has been laid for a new library at Highbury
Primary School, South Australia.
The school received funding of $1.6 million to build the new
library, under the Primary Schools for the 21st Century component of
the Building the Education Revolution (BER).
“The new library will be a 21st Century modern purpose built
resource facility that will house thirty computers and is part of a
suite of improvements being made to the school with the BER
funding,” said Mr Paul Cahalan, Principal of Highbury Primary
School.
The school also received $1.4 million for refurbishment works to
an existing hall. The new and improved hall will be used as a
multipurpose self-contained facility for music, performing arts and
sporting activities.
Construction company Sitzler are carrying out the works at
Highbury Primary School, as well as a number of other BER projects.
Project Manager, Mr Peter Corrie, said the additional BER work has
been a huge benefit to their business, particularly in terms of the
short term growth of their South Australian office.
“Additional exposure to design consultants and the wider
community has enabled us to further promote our capabilities as a
premier mid-tier construction and project management company,” said
Mr Corrie.
Sitzler have employed new staff as a result of the additional
work, to include a project manager, two forepersons, two building
graduates and a building under-graduate. Sitzler have also engaged
local electricians and plumbers for input into the design work of
their BER projects.
