Work Underway on Newell Highway Black Spots

Work is now underway on safety upgrades totalling $1.2 million at
four high risk intersections on the Newell Highway between
Narrandera and West Wylong funded under the Nation Building –
Economic Stimulus Plan.
Work started on the following projects as part of the Black Spot
Program:
- Intersection of Newell Highway and Gawnes Road at Grong
Grong: $300,000 to upgrade intersection to increase room for
left and right turns.
- Intersection of Newell Highway and Murrell Creek Road at
Ardlethan: $300,000 to upgrade intersection to increase room for
left and right turns.
- Intersection of Newell Highway and Bartels Lane at Alleena:
$300,000 to upgrade intersection to increase room for left and
right turns.
- Intersection of Newell Highway and Storms Lane at Alleena:
$300,000 to upgrade intersection to increase room for left and
right turns.
These projects were recommended by a panel of independent road
safety experts. NSW received $48 million for 198 black spots
projects.
