Defence homes completed in Tasmania
Wednesday, 28 April 2010
Last week 10 Defence houses in Howrah, Tasmania were completed as
part of the Nation Building-Economic-Stimulus Plan.
Local award winning builders, Wilson Homes, were employed to
construct the 10 houses and they in turn employed local
sub-contractors where they could in support of the local Tasmanian
economy.
The project cost a total of $2.7 million and is part of the $245.58
million allocated to Defence Housing Australia to build 802 Defence
homes throughout Australia. Due to program efficiencies an
additional 27 houses have been contracted bringing the total to 829.
All houses are expected to be completed by March 2011.
