The first of 59 level crossing safety upgrades in Victoria has now been completed.

Sixteen level crossing sites have now been upgraded with boom gates, flashing lights and better signage, with a further four projects to be completed by the end of the month.

The projects were funded as part of the Australian Government’s $150 million Boom Gates for Rail Crossings Program – a key element of the $42 billion Nation Building - Economic Stimulus Plan.

The Program will see boom gates and other safety measures installed at more than 280 high risk level crossings around Australia.
