Progress Report released

Senator the Hon Mark Arbib, Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Government Service Delivery, yesterday released the Commonwealth Coordinator-General’s Progress Report at St Mary’s Primary School in Dandenong, Victoria.

The Progress Report provides a first quarter analysis of the Government’s two year Plan to stimulate the Australian economy and support Australian jobs.

Senator Arbib announced that the Plan was so far progressing very well with activity to date meeting both the Government’s objectives in cushioning Australia from the effects of the global downturn, and the community’s expectations.

In just five months, 33,000 projects have been approved, more than 14,000 have commenced and more than 370 projects are complete as part of the Plan. More than $18 billion worth of funds have been approved nationally.

The Report notes the effectiveness of the Plan so far, along with trends and issues identified during the implementation phase. Information reported to this point has allowed the Government to consider the various demands and impacts of different programs.
