Audience at the Ballarat Industry Information Session
on Thursday 7 May
2009
Over 1,500 industry members attended a series of Building the Education
Revolution information sessions hosted by the Victorian Department of Education
and Early Childhood Development during April and May.
With Victoria’s Building the Education Revolution projects open for tender,
there are many opportunities available for industry to get involved in this
major infrastructure program.
The information sessions provided an overview of the Nation Building –
Economic Stimulus Plan, the Department’s approach to the Building the Education
Revolution, timelines, and how contractors, material suppliers and manufacturers
can get involved.
Paul Schlaphoff from St Hilliers Contracting said “This is a fantastic
opportunity for industry and it’s important that we are ready to start projects
in June. I have been able to retain staff and will be able to bring on new staff
if we get Building the Education Revolution work”.
Funding for government schools in Victoria has already been approved for 243
primary schools, totalling $456 million, under the Primary Schools for the 21st
Century Program along with 1,581 projects, totalling $204 million, under the
National School Pride Program.
