In the lead up to the G-20
Summit in London on 2 April, the Australian
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd met with American
President Barack Obama in Washington DC to
discuss the global financial crisis and the
impact on local and international economies.
President Obama highlighted
the importance for relatively wealthy nations
such as Australia and the US to take a
leadership role in stopping the continued
downward spiral from having an even more
devastating impact in emerging markets.
The Prime Minister said he was looking
forward to working with President Obama in
London on concrete and common actions to help
stimulate global economies, on the future of the
IMF, and working on what can be done to better
regulate the global financial system into the
future.
