Under the Nation Building – Economic Stimulus Plan, Defence Housing Australia (DHA) will build a total of 802 new Defence houses across the country, in addition to its scheduled construction program.

Since late February, contracts have been signed for 700 of the 802 houses.

These contracts have provided for housing in Darwin, Townsville, Brisbane, Ipswich, Adelaide, Canberra, Nowra, Wodonga, Sale, Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Toowoomba, Wagga and the Hunter Valley.

A total of 72 houses have now been completed in Darwin, Townsville and Brisbane.

It is expected that the contracts for the remaining 102 houses will be signed before the end of this year, with all construction to be completed by June 2011.
