I’m Craig Emerson, the Minister for Small Business.

In designing this stimulus package we have had small businesses firmly in mind, we call it the tradies package because tradespeople will be involved in all the infrastructure projects, the building and rebuilding of our schools, the road-works and indeed the twenty thousand public housing units so that’s great for trades people but in addition there’s a particular investment allowance, thirty per cent investment allowance which reduces the cost of putting in plant and equipment by small businesses if they do that before the first of July and it will actually encourage small businesses where they do have the cash flow to bring forward some of their investment plans.

That’s an extra stimulus, good for small business, good for jobs, good for Australia.
