G’day I’m Peter Garrett, Federal Environment Minister. Welcome to the website.

As you may be aware, we recently announced our response to the global financial crisis.

The Government’s Nation Building Economic Stimulus Package is a decisive plan to assist Australia through this difficult time.

We want to help communities and protect the living standards of working families, and I believe we’ve got the balance right.

With initiatives that invest in schools, roads, homes and the environment, as well as direct payments and tax breaks for individuals, families and businesses.

You should also have a look at the initiatives we’ve taken in Energy Efficiency. This is the largest ever roll-out of Energy Efficiency in Australia’s history.

It’ll include the provision of insulation to 2.7 million Australian households.
