When the Government began to see the full impact of the Global Financial Crisis, we responded with a targeted package to boost the economy.

Housing has been a big feature of our response – firstly with extra support for first home buyers and then with the biggest investment in social housing in Australian history.

There are plenty of signs that the stimulus is starting to make a difference. But we are not out of the woods yet and our stimulus to the housing sector will be important to supporting jobs for the next couple of years.
