Hi I’m Tanya Plibersek, I’m the federal housing minister. I want to welcome you to this website which is about the Government's economic stimulus strategy.

Now I want to tell you a little bit about the housing component of that. The government’s spending six point four billion dollars on public housing, we’ve set aside four hundred million dollars for repairs and maintenance and that work’s already started. We’re spending the rest of the six billion dollars building at least twenty thousand new units of public housing and that public housing is going to be all over Australia, it’s going to be part of existing suburbs and new developments right across the country.
